Also called General Management, it is the management of the people, systems, and processes that create goods and/or provide services. Job titles include:

Assess the value of Lean concepts, including Value Stream Mapping, Workplace Organization and Standardization, 5-S and Cellular Flow, Kan Ban, and Total Production Maintenance
Plan a comprehensive quality management program
Utilize mathematical approaches to solve make/buy and outsourcing problems
Apply economic principles such as time value of money, internal rate of return, and cost-benefit ratios
Leverage project management techniques to develop project plans, identify risks, and deal with practical problems
