BTC’s Diesel Technology program is certified by Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as a medium/heavy duty truck training program. This ensures that the curriculum follows the stringent standards identified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF).
At BTC, you’ll first complete pre-program general education courses, followed by seven quarters of specialized study to earn one of these degrees in Diesel Technology:
- Associate of Applied Science—Transfer Degree (143 credits)
- Associate of Applied Science Degree (138 credits)
Students also have the option of pursuing these Certificates of Completion:
- Diesel Drive Train/Brakes/Suspension Steering/Electrical Electronic Systems
(2 quarters) - Diesel Engine & Electrical Electronic Systems (2 quarters)
- Diesel Hydraulics Preventative Maintenance (2 quarters)
- Vehicle Service Technician (1 quarter)
You’ll learn how to use leading-edge diesel technology, and work hands-on in an actual shop. Employers who hire Diesel Technology graduates include diesel automotive and trucking companies, rental companies, highway contractors, farm and heavy equipment companies, and marine dealers.
Your BTC training will prepare you to work right away as a diesel technician, repairing and maintaining heavy trucks, buses, and road equipment like bulldozers and graders. Other positions you’d qualify for are diesel engine specialist, truck technician, construction and industrial machinery repair technician, and marine technician.
